How do I choose a subscription plan?

Fastmail offers plans for both personal and business use. Please see our Pricing page for a complete comparison of the features and differences between all Fastmail plans.

Every Fastmail account starts on a 30-day trial at signup, so you can try out Fastmail for 30 days before you need to choose a plan. You can sign up for a trial account here.

If you're not sure which plan is right for you, this guide can help. The best choice for you will depend on factors such as how many users you need, how much storage your users need, and which features those users need.

Personal plans

We offer Individual, Duo, and Family plans for personal use:

  • The Individual plan is designed for one person using Fastmail for personal purposes.
  • The Duo plan is designed for two users
  • The Family plan is designed for 3 to 6 users.

All of the above plans offer 50 GB of mail storage and 10 GB of files storage per user, as well as standard-level features including custom domains, use of third-party mail clients or apps, and productivity features like Snooze or Scheduled Send.

If you're using Fastmail on your own and you don't need a lot of storage or features, we also offer a Basic plan, which is a no-frills plan designed for light usage. The Basic plan provides 5 GB of mail storage and does not include custom domains, use of third-party mail clients or apps, or productivity features.

Business plans

Business accounts allow you to pay per user and choose the plan that best fits each person's needs. You can mix and match plans within the same account, so not every user needs to be on the same plan (i.e., some employees can use Business Basic, while others use Business Standard or Business Professional).

We offer Business Basic, Business Standard, and Business Professional for companies and organizations.

  • Business Basic is our lowest-tier business plan and includes 5 GB of mail storage and 1 GB of files storage. This plan does not include custom domains, use of third-party mail clients or apps, or productivity features. This plan is a good choice for users that need minimal storage and features.
  • Business Standard includes 50 GB of mail storage and 10 GB of files storage. This plan is a good choice for users that need features such as custom domains and third-party integrations, along with the additional storage.
  • Business Professional is our highest-tier business plan. It includes 100 GB of mail storage and 50 GB of files storage, plus email retention. This plan is a good fit for users with higher storage or email needs, or users who need the email retention feature for legal compliance.

Note: With a multi-user Business account, you only need one admin on a Standard or Professional plan to share a custom domain with Basic users.

For more information on how a multi-user plan works, please see our Managing multi-user accounts help page.

Which plan is right for me?

The difference between Personal and Business plans becomes especially important when you need to add multiple users.

Duo and Family plans can be a good value for personal use when everyone needs similar features. Business plans offer more flexibility for organizations, including the ability to mix and match plans based on each user's requirements.

When choosing a plan, consider how many users you need and which features each person requires. You should also consider the limits that apply to each plan, such as storage, aliases, domains, and sending and receiving limits. For detailed information, see our Account limits help page.

What if I need to change the plan I chose?
