Registering a domain through Fastmail

Buying a domain through Fastmail is a quick and easy way to own your online identity. Domains purchased through Fastmail can be used immediately, with no complex DNS setup required.

Fastmail offers competitive pricing for domains purchased through us. We use your stored payment details to register and renew domains, so you can manage all your email subscriptions in one place.

The option to register a domain through Fastmail is available to paid customers who have been with us for more than 30 days. The user purchasing the domain must be subscribed to our Standard or Professional plan.

How to register a domain through Fastmail

If your account is eligible for the pilot program, you can register a domain through Fastmail by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Fastmail account and go to Settings → Domains.
  2. Click Add or buy domain.
  3. Select Buy a new domain.
  4. Enter the domain you wish to purchase. If the domain is available, and it is at a supported TLD, you can click the Continue button.
  5. The next screen will list the price of the domain and ask for your registration details. Once your registration details are completed, click Purchase.

After purchasing the domain, you will receive an email from Fastmail with next steps for verifying your domain with ICANN.

Managing your domain's DNS

When the domain is purchased, all DNS records will be set automatically pointing to Fastmail. This means that you will be able to start receiving mail at the domain immediately.

If you wish to manage your own custom DNS, you can do so by going to Settings → Domains and clicking Edit for the domain, then clicking Customize DNS. From this screen, you can add custom DNS records as needed. This can be useful if you would like to have a website at your domain hosted elsewhere.

Supported TLDs

We currently support domain registrations at the following TLDs:

  • .com
  • .net
  • .org
  • .io
