Set up autoreply

If you're going to be unable to check your mail for a while, you might like to set up an autoreply message to let people know. To do so:

  1. Open the Settings → Vacation Response screen.
  2. Tick Send an automated reponse with the message:.
  3. In the text box below, you can enter the response you want to send in the text field.
  4. Choose if the message will go to all people who contact you, or only your contacts. You can also set up a certain date range the autoreply will be in effect.

Automatic replies will be sent for as long as the box is ticked. A reply will be sent to the same address no more than once every 3 days, no matter how many times someone emails you. This is to make sure that people sending messages to you do not get multiple identical auto-replies from you every day.

Automatic replies will only be sent to messages where your email address (or that of one of your chosen identities) is in the To or Cc field. Autoreplies will not be sent to messages that are marked as spam.

To help remind you if your autoreply is active, a banner is displayed at the top of each conversation with shortcuts to change the settings or switch it off.
