Users in a multi-user account can share files with other users in their account.
To share folders, go to the Files screen, and click on the Private link next to the folder name.
You can also set different permission levels for individual users: only view the files, make changes, or make changes and share.
To share an individual file, click on the Private link next to the file name. You will then be able to generate a secret link that you can share with people to allow them to view that specific file.
You can revoke access to shared files or folders at any time by selecting Disable.
Sharing files via the Fastmail app
Files can also be shared on the official Fastmail app on iOS.
To share a file from your Files section on the Fastmail app:
- Short press on the file name in the files list.
- A preview of the file will appear. Select the Link icon next to the file name.
- Select the arrow below the Disable link section, and the option to Disable or Enable a file is presented.
- Select Enable.
Once this is done, return to the previous screen and a user.fm link to your files section will now be displayed.
You'll see two options, Copy to clipboard or Email, which can be used to share the link to a file.
Note that if the file is an image, video, or PDF, the attachment will always be previewed without the link in the corner.
