Supported browsers

While we make our best effort to ensure that Fastmail can be accessed on older versions of browsers wherever possible, we can only provide support for the latest versions.

As new browser APIs become widely available among our user base, we will adopt them in order to build a better Fastmail experience. This means dropping all support for very old browsers from time-to-time.

Effective June 15, 2025, you will not be able to use Fastmail's web interface in browsers that don't support certain modern features (such as pointer events, dynamic import, and async function generators). The minimum versions of the major browsers that support these features are:

  • Chrome 67
  • Edge 79
  • Firefox 68
  • Opera 55
  • Safari 15 (same as iOS 15 on iPhone/iPad)

You will need to upgrade to at least the above version to continue using the Fastmail web interface. Alternatively, you could set up a third-party email client to continue accessing your mail.

General browser info and recommendations

We support the latest versions of:

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Opera
  • Safari
  • Brave
  • Vivaldi.

To use our web interface, you must also have Javascript and cookies enabled. (We use cookies as part of our system for signing in securely. The only cookies set are from us, and we do not use cookies for any other purpose other than authentication.)

Using unsupported browsers

We highly recommend for your security that, whatever browser you use, you set it to automatically update to the latest version. Using older software, including older browsers, can be a security risk for your computer.

You may still be able to use Fastmail successfully on an unsupported browser if it supports the web technologies we use. However, we cannot guarantee functionality, and we are unable to provide support with issues related to or caused by an unsupported browser.

If you are unable to use Fastmail due to an unsupported browser, we recommend using a third-party mail client or app to access your mail instead.

Supported browsers on mobile devices

We support Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android.

Known issue: Fastmail blocked on iOS 16.4

Users on iOS 16.4 with Screen Time content restrictions enabled have reported a white screen when accessing Fastmail via the mobile app or browser on their mobile devices. This issue is due to a bug Apple introduced in the iOS 16.4 update.

Apple has fixed this issue in the iOS 16.5 release, so updating your device will allow you to access Fastmail again. If you are unable to update, a workaround is to disable Screen Time or Content & Privacy Restrictions.
