Contact groups

Contact groups let you organize people you know in your address book. These groups can then be used in a few places to make managing your mail and events easier. A contact can belong to more than one group.

How to create a group

  1. Open the Contacts screen.
  2. Click the Groups button from the top toolbar.
  3. Find the Create group at the end of the group list, then select if you'd like to create a private or shared group.
  4. Enter a name for your group and click the Save button.

You will then see the newly created group appear in the Contacts screen.

You can also create a group by hovering your mouse in the left hand sidebar, then clicking the plus sign that appears next to Groups.

You can rename the group by right-clicking the group in the list and selecting Rename.

Adding/removing contacts in a group

Contacts can be added and removed from a group on the Contacts screen.

To add contacts to a group, follow these steps:

  1. Select one or more contacts.
  2. Click the Groups button that appears in the top toolbar.
  3. Select the group you want to add the selected contacts to.

If you need to remove contacts from a group, do not use the Delete button, as this will delete the contact from your address book. To remove contacts from a group, follow these steps:

  1. Search or select one or more contacts from a contact list (either all contacts, or from a search, or from another group).
  2. Click the Groups button that appears in the top toolbar.
  3. Uncheck the group you want to remove the contacts from.

You can also add or remove contacts in a group by right-clicking a contact (or multiple selected contacts), going to Groups, and selecting the contact group from there.

Using contact groups

Email a group

When composing a new email, you can send it to a contact group instead of individual contacts. Type the contact group's name in the To, CC or BCC field and it will insert all contacts in the group.

Invite a contact group to a calendar event

When creating or editing a Calendar event, you can invite attendees by contact group. Doing so adds each contact individually and will email them an invitation.
