When you have important messages that you want to be able to see quickly, use our pin feature. Pinned messages are flagged as special.
Pinned messages and conversations can be set up so that you see them at the top of your folder. You can also search for pinned messages.
If you have auto-purge set up, any pinned messages in that folder or label will not be purged.
Pinned messages in the Fastmail interface may show as "Starred" in some email clients.
Pinning a message
There are several ways you can pin a message:
- When reading a message, click the pin icon at the top.
- Hover over the email in your message list and select the pin icon when it appears.
- Right-click the message in your message list, then select Pin from the menu.
- Click More, then select Pin from the menu.

The sort order menu lets you choose whether pinned messages display at the top of your mailbox or stay in their usual order.
Search for a pinned messages
To search for a pinned message, you can use the advanced search menu and select the Is pinned checkbox:

in your search.
