The instructions and screenshots in this setup guide are for Windows Phone 8. Previous versions of Windows Phone are very similar, although the screenshots may not match exactly what you see on your device.
Windows Phone apps needs their own app password to access your information. If you use your normal password or your Fastmail two step verification password on an external account, syncing to an external service won't work and you will see a password error.

Open the Settings app.

Tap email + accounts.

Tap add an account.

Tap other account.

Fill in your email address and app password:
- Email Address: Your full Fastmail username, including the domain.
- Password: Your Windows Phone app password. (What's an app password?)
- Tap sign in.
Your Fastmail account is now ready to use.
If this doesn't work, you may need to explicitly enter in the mail server name and port using the Advanced Settings. To explicitly set a port number in the outgoing or incoming server settings, use the format hostname:port
