How to set your time zone
When you first load your calendar after logging in, we will prompt you with a suggested time zone if we think your location is different to your current time zone.
We display the time zone that is set on your device.
If you have the accurate local time and time zone set in your computer's preferences, this should be reflected in the Fastmail web interface as well.
Multiple time zone support
If you commonly move between different time zones, you can enable multiple time zone support on the Settings → Preferences screen. This will add a button to the calendar toolbar to allow you to quickly switch between time zones for viewing your calendar, and allow you to change the time zone of events when you create or edit them.
Each event is linked to a particular time zone: when you change your time zone, the event is shown at the time it will occur in that time zone.
There is one special time zone called Floating Time. When an event's time zone is set to Floating Time it will always occur at the same start time, regardless of which time zone you view it in.
If you view your calendar in Floating Time, each event will be displayed as though it were being viewed in the time zone for that event.
Troubleshooting wrong timestamps
If your emails display timestamps which are drastically different than the times they were sent, there are a few things to check in order to work out where the problem is occurring.
- Double check that your computer is set to the correct time and timezone. Timestamps are generally based on the time and timezone set on your machine.
- To see correct timestamps on your emails while using Firefox, disable Fingerpinting protection. This feature spoofs the timezone, which changes the times displayed on emails. To disable it, visit about:config and search privacy.resistFingerprinting. Double click the first result to make it false.
- Try disabling any VPNs or browser extensions you may currently be using.
