Paddle billing

As of April 2024, Paddle is Fastmail's merchant of record. Customers subscribed to our newest plans will be billed through Paddle.

Any payments for your Fastmail subscription that are made through Paddle will appear on your bank statement as "Paddle.net* Fastmail."

Invoices and other payment-related emails will be sent to your Fastmail account from Paddle. For more information, please see Your Paddle address below.

Fastmail customers who are not billed through Paddle are being migrated on an ongoing basis. We’ll email you before your first renewal under the new plans to ensure you have all the details, including the price of your renewal, which may change. To ensure that this message — or any other message — is a legitimate communication from Fastmail, look out for the white check mark in a green circle. For more information on identifying legitimate mail from the Fastmail team, please see our Phishing help page.

Supported payment options

Customers billed through Paddle can use the following payment options: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diner's Club, Apple Pay, Google Pay, UnionPay, Maestro, Mada, and PayPal. Please note that PayPal may not accept payments from some countries or currencies.

Supported currencies

Payments can submitted through Paddle in the following currencies: AUD, BRL, CAD, CHF, CSK, DKK, EUR, GBP, HKD, HUF, INR, JPY, KRW, MXN, NOK, NZD, PLN, SGD, USD, and ZAR.

If your country's currency is not supported, you will be billed in USD.

You can select your country from the dropdown menu when viewing plans on our Pricing page or in your Settings → Billing & Plan screen. Prices will automatically update to reflect the applicable currency.

How can I tell if I will be billed through Paddle?

The easiest way to tell if your account is on Paddle billing is to go to your Settings → Billing & Plan screen and click Choose a plan.

You will be brought to a screen where you can see Fastmail's subscription plan offerings. If you are on Paddle billing, you will see the Individual, Duo, and Family options under the Individual & family tab, and BasicStandard, and Professional options under the Business tab. You will also see a dropdown menu on this screen where you can select your country to view pricing in other currencies.

Invoices

After submitting a payment, you will receive an invoice from Paddle. Your Paddle address will be listed on the invoice.

If you need to have a copy of your invoice re-sent to you, you can obtain it from Paddle by following these steps:

  1. Go to Paddle's website and click Look up my purchase.
  2. Enter your Paddle address, then click Locate my purchase
  3. You will receive an email in your Fastmail account with the subject line "Verify your email". Click the Verify and show purchases link in the email.
  4. In the link you just opened, click the chat bubble in the bottom right corner. From there, type "request invoice" and press Enter. You should receive a copy of your invoice sent to your Fastmail account.

Your Paddle address

In the event that you need to contact Paddle directly, you will need to provide them with the email address that is listed on your Paddle invoice.

When Fastmail first introduced Paddle billing, we automatically created a Masked Email address on the customer's behalf to keep their email address private. If you have a Paddle Masked Email address, you can find it by going to your Settings → Masked Email screen and entering "Paddle" in the search box.

We updated this approach in late 2025 so that customers now receive Paddle invoices to their Fastmail username directly. (Any customers who have a Paddle Masked Email address will continue to receive Paddle invoices at that address.)

Renewal reminders

Please note that Paddle currently only sends renewal reminders in locations where there is a legal requirement for them to do so. You can find a list of these locations here

If your location is listed, you can expect to receive a reminder either 7 days or 30 days before your auto-renewal is scheduled.

Why is Fastmail using Paddle?

We use Paddle as our merchant of record for a few different reasons, including:

  • ensuring global tax compliance,
  • the ability to offer billing in local currency (a longtime request from our customers), and
  • allowing Fastmail's developers to focus on our product instead of billing issues.
